DUNLAP UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
aka The John Wesley United Methodist church

What a Find – Beautiful Picturesque Setting

According to the Hamilton County Auditor website, this church was constructed in 1900 and contains 1620sf on the main level plus a full basement. There are 14 pews with seating for 84 people in the Sanctuary. The full basement could be remodeled for extra space and is divided into a large community room, small kitchen (plumbed and wired), youth room, and a mechanical room. The property is comprised of 4 lots totaling 0.794 acre of land and known as PID # 5100270003190, 510027002990, 5100270003090, & 5100270002890 and the total property has approximately 173’ of frontage on Old Colerain Ave. The total appraised value of the lots and church building is $174,800.

The church sanctuary and crying room is elevated by 8 steps. However the lower level can be accessed from ground level and a chair lift is in place to make it handicap accessible. There are 2 gender specific restrooms on the main level. Complimenting this property is a storage shed and small pavilion for picnic tables. Everything is in working order. The gas fired furnace with central air is approximately 2 years old as is the hot water heater, the chair lift was inspected and passed in January of this year and the Aerobic septic system has already been inspected and passed in April of this year. No roof leakage was visible. This church comes ready to open and begin to worship.

The current church replaced a smaller church on the same little hill which was originally constructed in the early 1800’s. Written church history indicates this current church building was completed and dedicated in 1917. Today the Dunlap Church congregation has merged with another congregation and moved to different facilities.

The property is zoned R-2 Estate Residential District with a nonconforming use certificate for a place of worship. The last service in this church was on Easter Sunday 2013. If your congregation has outgrown your present location but is still too small for the larger church buildings, this property is for you! Although it would be a shame to eliminate the history of this building, it is located in an area of some upscale homes and could also be razed for a beautiful building site or remodeled for a personal residence.
